For a moment, take a look at this. Stop being an adult, stop being mature, and just start being a kid for a moment. Do you remember what it felt like seeing the castle for the first time? Seeing your first parade? Meeting the mouse himself? Seeing Cinderella in her carriage and jumping up and down until she waved back at you? On your darkest of days, just try to remember all those times you didn’t have a care in the world, and we’re completely swept away by magic. By happiness. Realize that no matter how terrible your situation is, there is still happiness in the world. All you have to do is go and find it.

Now I’msobbing. Great

45 years ago today, Pirates of the Caribbean opened to the public at Disneyland, and began a new era of themed entertainment.

Now hailed as a classic thematic experience, WED’s 1967 creation was the brainchild of Walt Disney, the artistic melding of Marc Davis and Claud Coats, and the musical and vocal talents X Antencio.

Since replicated and tweaked to include three separate iterations in four of Disney’s Magic Kingdoms around the world, and branched off into the realm of Hollywood with a bevy of cinematic installments, Pirates of the Caribbean remains, 45 years later, a cornerstone of the company and an integral part of Disney’s volumes of stories and experiences.

Always been without a doubt one of my favorite attractions ever.

Hey it’s Ariel…

Ahh I love this because I’ve always been dreaming of a Little Mermaid/Peter Pan crossover film. Cause Peter Pan is friends with a bunch of mermaids, and Ariel used to journey off on her own and explore all the time, it would completely make sense that Ariel would have run into Neverland and maybe met Peter and had some crazy adventure. C’mon Disney, make it happen!

Ariel’s Undersea Adventure officially opens in TWO days!

When this opens at WDW and I go on, I am going to cry like a baby, I already can tell.

Taken last year…. Assuming I get all of my work done today, I might get to go to DL for a few hours tomorrow. Law school makes life suck.

Jealous! It bothers me that Disney Parks in general, but especially Disney World, does not utilize The Nightmare Before Christmas more. I know they add TNBC things to the Haunted Mansion in California around the holidays, and I wish they did that at WDW. I really wish they’d build an attraction around the film though. My brain nearly explodes thinking about how incredible that could be, I mean my God.

Disneyland opening day dedication speech - July 17, 1955

“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past…and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America…with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

Happy 55th Birthday, Disneyland!

Thank you so much, Walt. I would be a very different person today had you never existed.

I have to be honest, Will. I’m having a really difficult time hearing anything you have to say today because your hair looks like a briar patch. I keep expecting racist animated Disney characters to pop up and start singing songs about living on the bayou.
